Mactan Island Vibes II

Out of My Niche, Still True to My Style

This recent shoot was something different—definitely outside of my usual niche—but in many ways, it felt like a natural extension of my creative voice. While the theme and setting might have shifted, the core of my style remained: less is more.

Shot on a peaceful island, the session had a quiet rhythm to it. The ambiance was calm, warm, and wrapped in a sense of stillness that I tried to carry through the entire shoot. The environment offered a natural palette soft sandy tones & diffused sunlight. It was the perfect canvas for something subtle, stripped-back, and honest.

What made this shoot truly meaningful for me was the emphasis on emotion over perfection. I’ve always been drawn to the quiet in-between moments—the ones that aren’t overly staged or posed. This time, I focused even more on capturing the emotion within the subject, not just the shape or angle of their body. Expression, energy, presence—these were my anchors.

I gave very minimal direction throughout the session, allowing space for the client’s personality to unfold naturally. It’s amazing what happens when you let people just be. That’s where the magic lives in those unscripted seconds when the mask drops and the real essence shines through.

Although I was working in unfamiliar territory, I didn’t feel out of place. Instead, it reminded me that my approach doesn’t have to be confined to one genre or category. Whether I’m shooting fashion, lifestyle, or something more documentary-style, my goal is always the same: to find the beauty in simplicity, and to let authenticity lead.

This shoot reaffirmed something I deeply believe: it’s not about doing more—it’s about doing less with intention. Fewer distractions, fewer directions, more honesty. That’s where I feel most aligned as an artist.
